Sunday 5-3-26 with Pastor Mike

May 3, 2026    Pastor Mike

This powerful message confronts us with one of the most dangerous threats to our spiritual lives: deception. We often think about persecution or suffering as the greatest challenges we face, but Scripture repeatedly warns us that deception is far more insidious because it works silently, subtly, and convincingly. The message takes us back to the Garden of Eden where we witness the very first deception in human history. Satan didn't approach Eve with an obvious lie, but with a simple question that caused her to doubt God's word. This pattern continues today as the enemy uses the same tactics: questioning truth, contradicting it, and then offering an enticing alternative. What makes this especially sobering is that Eve was a perfect being in a perfect environment with direct fellowship with God, yet she was still deceived. This shows us how easily we can drop our guard. The message challenges us to examine who and what we surround ourselves with, because influence works like a permeating smell that we gradually stop noticing even as it changes us. We're called to be vigilant, to recognize that deception comes in many forms including manipulation, flattery, and even self-deception when we hear God's word but fail to live it. The urgency of this message reminds us that we must stay alert, develop spiritual discernment, and constantly measure ourselves not against others but against God's perfect standard.
