Sunday 9-27-26 with Pastor Chris

What does it mean to truly find refuge? We all seek safety, comfort, and security in our lives, but the question worth sitting with is this: where are we actually turning when life gets overwhelming? This message takes us on a deep exploration of refuge, both the kind we build for ourselves and the kind God offers us. We look at the story of Elijah, a mighty prophet who, after boldly confronting corrupt leadership, found himself utterly spent, hiding under a tree and asking God to take his life. What happens next is remarkable. God does not rebuke him or demand he get back to work. Instead, He sends an angel to feed him, let him rest, and then directs him to a cave on Mount Sinai, where in the stillness after wind, earthquake, and fire, God speaks in a still, small voice. That cave was not just physical shelter. It was a place of recovery and refocus. This is the heart of what we are invited to consider: God's refuge is not merely a place to rest. It is a place where He restores our purpose and redirects our path. We are challenged to examine the refuges we run to, our homes, our hobbies, our jobs, our social circles, even technology, and ask honestly whether those things are truly providing what only God can give.
